Betting should stay what it is meant to be: entertainment. It is not a source of income, not a way to recover money already lost and not a solution to financial problems. This page explains how to keep control, which tools are available inside the app and where to get help if gambling stops being fun.
Golden rules before you start
- Bet only money you can afford to lose without affecting rent, food, education or family expenses.
- Decide on a budget and a time limit before you open the app, not while you are playing.
- Never borrow money to bet and never bet with funds that belong to someone else.
- Do not try to win back losses — chasing is the fastest way to turn a small loss into a large one.
- Do not bet under the influence of alcohol, stress or strong emotion after a match result.
- Take regular breaks and keep other hobbies in your week.
Warning signs of a problem
Answer these questions honestly. The more “yes” answers, the more reason there is to pause:
- Do you bet more money or more often than you planned?
- Do you hide the size of your bets from family or friends?
- Do you keep playing to win back what you have lost?
- Do you borrow money, sell things or delay bills in order to bet?
- Do you feel restless, irritable or anxious when you cannot play?
- Has betting affected your work, studies, sleep or relationships?
- Do you think about odds and matches most of the day?
Several “yes” answers do not automatically mean addiction, but they do mean it is time to set hard limits or take a break and speak to someone you trust.
Control tools available in the account
Licensed operators are required to give players the means to limit their own activity. In the Melbet app and account settings you can normally use the following:
- Deposit limits — a daily, weekly or monthly cap on how much you can top up.
- Bet and loss limits — a ceiling on stakes or on net losses over a chosen period.
- Session reminders — a notification showing how long you have been playing.
- Time-out — a short cooling-off period during which you cannot place bets.
- Self-exclusion — blocking access to the account for a longer term or permanently.
Limits usually take effect immediately when tightened and only after a delay when relaxed. If you cannot find a setting, ask support to apply it for you — requesting a limit is a normal and confidential procedure.
Protecting minors
Gambling is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. Operators verify age during KYC, but the first line of defence is at home:
- never let a minor use your account, device or payment wallet for betting;
- log out of the app and do not save the password on shared phones;
- use parental controls or filtering software on children’s devices;
- enable a device passcode so that apps cannot be opened by others.
Where to get help
If gambling has become a problem for you or someone close to you, free and confidential support is available online, in English, from anywhere:
Bangladesh does not have a dedicated national gambling helpline. If you need immediate emotional support locally, speak to a licensed psychologist or a mental-health service, or contact a person you trust. Talking to someone early makes recovery far easier.
A note on this website
We publish guides and reviews about the Melbet app; we do not accept bets and do not hold accounts. We cannot set limits or self-exclude anyone — those requests go to the operator’s support team. If you have already self-excluded, please do not use our download guides to return to play before your exclusion period ends.
